If you examine our list of top-rated televisions, you’ll notice the presence of Google TVs. This is due to Google’s intelligent TV platform, which provides an excellent user interface and a wide range of free channels. In April 2023 alone, more than 800 channels were added. And now, the platform is receiving further enhancements.
Starting today, Google has introduced over 25 new free TV channels to its Google TV and Android TV devices. These channels are seamlessly integrated into the Live tab of the user interface, eliminating the need to add external free streaming services for access.
Prominent among these new channels are offerings from esteemed sources like the BBC and Lionsgate studios. These include popular TV shows and movies such as “Top Gear” and “Baywatch.” This brings the total count of free channels on Google TV to over 100, without requiring any additional steps. This addition complements the existing channels available through subscriptions to Tubi, Plex, and Haystack. For viewers seeking alternatives amidst the recent price hikes of streaming services, this is a significant advantage.
Naturally, if you already subscribe to some of the leading streaming services, they remain accessible through the Google TV user interface. However, with the inclusion of previous episodes of shows like “Top Gear” and “Baywatch,” alongside established favorites like “Westworld,” “Law & Order: SVU,” and “The Walking Dead,” there’s a wealth of free content to choose from for those looking to save money.
Another noteworthy feature for Google TV users is the streamlined access to NFL Sunday Ticket for out-of-market games on Sundays. This enhancement is made possible by Google’s ownership of YouTube TV, which is now the official broadcaster for Sunday Ticket in the 2023 NFL season. NFL Sunday Ticket has been seamlessly integrated into Google TV, providing direct access to games and highlights right from the home screen. Additionally, these games will be added to the Live tab, eliminating the need to search through a separate app.
It’s important to mention that access to Sunday Ticket comes with a cost. Currently, subscriptions are priced at $299 for YouTube TV subscribers, with an additional $339 for access to NFL RedZone. Alternatively, you can sign up for Sunday Ticket through YouTube Primetime Channels for a slightly higher fee, if you prefer not to subscribe to YouTube TV. However, the integration of Google TV into the Live tab seems to be exclusive to YouTube TV subscribers.
Furthermore, for those interested in reducing the cost of their NFL Sunday Ticket subscription and considering a Google TV purchase, TCL is offering a $200 discount on NFL Sunday Ticket when you buy an eligible TCL TV with Google TV. Take advantage of this offer promptly to avoid missing out.
